Egle Oddo is an artist living and working in Finland. Her work focuses on linear and non-linear narration as an art form. Interested in operational realism, meant as the presentation of the functional sphere in an aesthetic arrangement and its inter-relations, she combines photography, moving image, installation, sculpture, environmental art, and experimental live art. In her pieces industrial production morphs towards delicate handcraft, life forms appear and emerge out of sculptures and objects, film photography appropriate digital images, selected trash mix with fashion, precious edible minerals and ancestral recipes are served as part of ritual meals. Her practice is context-based, committed and based on long term research. Her work is present at international biennials, Museums and relevant institutions, as well as cutting edge and independent alternative spaces and events, to mention few: Manifesta12, Zilberman gallery, 3me Biennale Internationale de Casablanca, 54th International Exhibition Venice Biennale, Triennial Agrikultura, MACRO Museum of Contemporary Art Rome, Fondazione Sandretto Re Rebaudengo, Kunsthalle Exnergasse Vienna, Kunsthalle Bratislava, Transmediale, Pace Digital gallery New York, Loop Barcelona. Her work is part of private and public collections, among them the Archive of MAXXI Museum of 21st Century Art (Rome). Pixelache Helsinki is pleased to introduce Roots in Motion, the public program curated by Başak Şenova in 2027. Şenova approaches archives through the structures of root systems, opening up different ways of perceiving how knowledge is connected, stored, accessed, and circulated. Her programme brings together a network of artistic practices that process archives as repositories of situated knowledge. They are constantly re-structured through ever-shifting, interconnected nodes. She had been visiting Finland in May 2026 to conduct her research and meet Finland-based artists in their studios. The complete list of artists and venues will be revealed in May 2027. 

Roots in Motion is part of Another Story, a long term project conceived by Egle Oddo and supported by the Kone Foundation. Created for Pixelache Helsinki, the project revisits international media art archives and contemporary artistic practices through different curatorial approaches. Over the course of a three-year program, three invited curators delve into international media art archives to curate annual exhibitions and a public programme. Initiated to instigate emerging trends and explore new narratives, the project aims to critically examine contemporary media art practices and curatorial approaches. By showcasing the evolving field, the project’s ambition is to create meaningful connections to diverse global archives, and to unleash valuable repositories of knowledge that warrants further exploration and revitalization.

Başak Şenova is a curator and designer. Since 2017, she has been living and working in Vienna. Şenova studied Literature and Graphic Design (MFA in Graphic Design and PhD in Art, Design, and Architecture at Bilkent University) and attended the 7th Curatorial Training Programme at Stichting De Appel, Amsterdam. From 2020 to 2022, she was a Visiting Professor at the University of Applied Arts Vienna, where she ran the research-based educational platform, the Octopus Programme. Currently, she holds the position of Senior Postdoctoral Researcher at the University of Applied Arts Vienna. In 2026, she was appointed Chief Curator of KunsthausWien. Senova has been writing on art, technology, and media, initiating and developing projects, and curating exhibitions since 1995.

She is one of the founding members of NOMAD, as well as the organiser of the ctrl_alt_del sound art project and Upgrade! Istanbul. She has edited numerous publications, worked as the editorial correspondent for ibraaz.org (2012–2016), served on the editorial board of PASS, the journal of the International Biennial Association (IBA) (2016–2023), and was the Turkish correspondent for Flash Art International (2014–2023). She also served as an advisory board member for the Turkish Pavilion at the Venice Biennale, the Istanbul Biennial, and the Biennial of Contemporary Art, D-0 ARK Underground in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Şenova curated the Pavilion of Turkey at the 53rd Venice Biennale. She co-curated the UNCOVERED project (Cyprus, 2011–2013) and the 2nd and 5th Biennials of Contemporary Art, D-0 ARK Underground (Bosnia and Herzegovina, 2013 and 2019). She served as Art Gallery Chair of ACM SIGGRAPH 2014 (Vancouver), curated the Helsinki Photography Biennial 2014, and curated Jerusalem Show VII: Fractures (2014). In 2015, she curated the Pavilion of North Macedonia at the 56th Venice Biennale. 

She is known for her long term projects, such as CrossSections and Octopus Programme, involving selected international partners, artists and scholars jointly researching and creating the outcomes during a public programme engaging with a large audience. Since 2022, she has been working on her arts-based research (PEEK) project, The Atlas (of Creative Mechanisms): [Curating-Conducting], funded by the FWF Austrian Science Fund (2022–2027).  And as the project leader of the Africa-UniNet project “Thinking Soil & Water,” she will remain affiliated with the university as a Research Fellow until September 2028, thereby bridging this research initiative and KunstHausWien.
