What happens when friends come together to explore contemporary Karelian culture through music, movement, film, storytelling, friendship and playful experiments?

ShyStella feat. Nissemane, Megabondmon, Aaron Bojang, Elsa Kallio, Jessica Piasecki & Noia ”Sky” Kekoni-Kattelus -GIG brings together different artistic practices, friendships and ways of making a live concert or a gig. The performance moves between sound, movement, visual worlds, storytelling and spontaneous experiments : creating a space where contemporary Karelian culture can meet unexpected forms of collaboration, and where different worlds can overlap, collide and become something new.
At the heart of the performance is a fascination with crossings between worlds: between inherited and invented traditions, body and sound, intimacy and public space, the ancient and the strange, the personal and the political. The artists approach Karelian culture not as something fixed, but as something alive, shifting and continually being reimagined.
About the artists
ShyStella (Stella Massa) is a Finnish-Karelian multidisciplinary artist working across different art forms and worlds. Their practice explores the intersections of sound, performance, folklore and collective experience. Their recent work has included research into Karelian group singing with local communities in Vilnius during the SODAS 2123 residency. Collaboration and collective ways of making are central to their practice, as is the question of what happens when different worlds, histories and artistic languages meet.
Elsa Kallio (she/her) Elsa Kallio is a Finnish, Berlin-based filmmaker and visual artist. In her work she is interested in creating playful connections between film, installation and music.
Jessica Piasecki is a Finnish-Polish world champion dancer and writer interested in group spirit, alternative uses of romantic powers, the physicality of language, sweat and other techniques for experimenting with reality. For this gig, Jessica brings along a forest mathematician called Äyö Öyä Yyy to feat ShyStella. Stella and Jessica are in the deep world of friendship and the trip has taken many otherworldly and political forms of performing in public spaces. Xxx!!!
Aaron Bojang is a sensitive and perceptive artist with a deep love for rhythm. Through it, he carries his message to those who are present and willing to listen. He believes music can pave the way towards understanding, and embraces his role in bringing people together through it

Noia ”Sky” Kekoni-Kattelus is Helsinki rooted twisted performance artist, shadow mami producer, DANCER<3 + making others dance(dj), swagged out heart stylist, love to our city-active, community builder. Dancing socially multimedia-way in between fleshy hope, belief and future.
Megabondmon is a performance group born in the club scene that donates backing dancers to ShyStella.
